Diversity & inclusion
What diversity & inclusion means to us
Opportunity Green is committed to ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion in our working and hiring practices.
We are serious about creating and sustaining a working environment in which everyone has an equal opportunity to fulfil their potential irrespective of sex, gender identity, pregnancy or parental responsibilities, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs, marital status, civil partnership status, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, national or ethnic origins, disability, age or part-time status.
We understand that climate change is a race issue and a gender issue but we know diverse experiences and perspectives are not adequately represented in climate policy and the non-profit sector. We want to change this. Opportunity Green is dedicated to broadening opportunities for groups that are underrepresented in climate spaces, and to building an inclusive team where people of different backgrounds can thrive.
While we know we have a way to go, our aim is to make our workforce and practices truly representative and inclusive of all sections of society.
Creating a diverse and inclusive environment
We are committed to creating an environment in which our employees and partners feel valued and respected, no matter their background or identity. We have a range of progressive, employee-centred policies and practices to ensure the wellbeing of our team.
We make sure to review our policies and practices regularly, engaging with all employees to strive for a fair and supportive working environment.
We strive to make our recruitment process as accessible as possible and allow every applicant to showcase their full potential regardless of gender, racial or ethnic identity or socioeconomic background. To this end, if applying for a vacancy at Opportunity Green please use this Application Guide to find out what to expect in the hiring process.

The RACE Report initiative is the UK’s largest analysis of the racial diversity of the environmental charity and funder sector. RACE stands for Racial Action for the Climate Emergency. The initiative was launched by a group of environmental nonprofit organisations in the UK in April 2022.
Opportunity Green joined the RACE report initiative in 2024 as part of our commitment to inclusion and diversity. You can view our transparency card for 2024. This now forms our baseline for further work on inclusion for racial diversity as we continue to critically engage with this topic and look for actions to implement in support of our goals.
